I spent most of my youth and adulthood in Virginia Beach and took up fishing & boating
at an early age with my grandfather. In my high school days, I got into hunting,
particularly duck hunting. I graduated from Frank W. Cox High School & Virginia
Wesleyan College with honors.
In 2001, my wife, Trish, and I moved to Poquoson where we raised our two girls and
currently reside. My wife tries to keep me straight, which many of my friends think she
should receive an award.
I combined my hobby of boating and work in 1981 by getting into the boat business
as Sales Manager at Lynnhaven Dry Storage in Virginia Beach. Afterwards, in 1987,
I joined Norfolk Marine Company until 1998. Many of those clients and old friends who
bought Grady White boats and Carolina Classics are still with me today. In 1998, I join
Bluewater Yacht Sales as a broker. Although this was quite a change dealing with larger boats, I never lost perspective of helping my clients. I learned a lot about big yachts and how to represent both buyers and sellers.
In February of 2015 at the age of 61, I opened my own dealership where I am only accountable for myself, family and clients. It’s quite a new feeling and gives me a new prospective in doing business and on life; totally different than running someone else’s business. One of my first goals was to give back to the community on my terms. You’ll see the charities that we’re donating to.
Thank you for taking time to read about my company and thank you if you have ever made a purchase from AYS.
